OUR HISTORY
Founded in 2002 under the leadership of Leonard
L. Slade. This 501 (c) 3 organization was set-up to
provide financial support for the development of
understanding and teaching of agriculture in the
classroom. Elementary, secondary and
post-secondary education is provided primarily in
Alabama through training programs for teachers,
educational programs for students, book reviews, and
grants to individuals and organizations for agricultural
purposes.
“It’s an exciting time for Agriculture” according
to Jerry Parham when he addressed the newly elected
Board of Directors for the Alabama Foundation For
Agriculture. Through the Foundation we’re going to
provide the best possible educational tools to our
teachers and the general public enabling them to tell
the story of Agriculture/farming across the state.”
Educational efforts through the Foundation will be
coordinated with current programs within the state and
on the national level. Partnering with existing
organizations increases our resources and enables us to
reach a broader area of clientele.
