MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Alabama Foundation For Agriculture
is to initiate and finance agricultural education and
research projects of county and state interest that have
an impact on both the present and the future of
Alabama/American agricultural production.
Food, Fiber, Fuel and Education are the four major
components of the Foundation’s ongoing theme and it
encompasses work of our Alabama Farmers reflecting the
primary goal of supporting a viable agricultural
industry. The Foundation works on a county, state
and national level while networking with support
organizations and individuals to raise funds that
support:
• sound, science-based research aimed at
immediate needs of U.S. agricultural producers
and • educational programs and materials about
the food, fiber and fuel systems for nationwide
distribution..
The largest base of financial support for the
Foundation comes from corporate sponsorship and
individual contributions. Other major sources of support
are through grants and networking with other groups,
civic clubs and agencies within the state.
Given the deceasing farm population and widespread
lack of understanding among consumers about the sources
of their food, fiber and fuel, agricultural education is
vitally important to the future of farming and
ranching.
The Foundation’s overall goal is to
enhance agricultural education by developing
programs and materials for educators, students and
consumers about the sources of food, fiber and
fuel. The Foundation makes resource materials
available free or at cost for use in programs such as
Agriculture In The Classroom.
